What Sydney looks forward to

I have no idea if this is normal or not, but when Sydney wakes up, whether in the morning or from her nap, she immediately starts talking. Usually loudly. And the things she says are quite a treat.

This morning (this is according to Amy, as I was still trying to regain consciousness) she woke up and started with "Going Azhaka!" This is her way of saying we are going to Alaska.

Near the end of the summer, we are going on a cruise to the Inside Passage with some friends and family members. We have been talking with Sydney about this trip for quite a while, both because we are excited about it and because Sydney has not stopped talking about Alaska since our last trip. It was arranged by friends of the family, but Amy and I are using it as an opportunity to celebrate the end of Amy's medical practice and the beginning of her full-time Mom practice. (All the more reason we have been talking about it for quite a while!)

So Sydney knows we are going to Alaska, and she is really looking forward to it, as you will see. Every time we drive in the direction of the airport (which is quite often given that we live close to it) Sydney starts her "Going Azhaka" routine. But this morning's was particularly funny. Here is an approximate transcript of her opening salvo:

Going Azhaka! Yay!

Mommy!

Daddy!

Zydney! Yay!

Baby Natalie! Yay! (A cousin who will be on the trip with us)

(Pause)

Whay-ow! (Whale)

Fishies!

Ottuhs! (Otters)

Biwdies!

Going Azhaka, yay!
